036: Magi-Fest 2011 - Day Two from the file of "Lost Episodes"

January 28th and it's Day Two of the 80th Magi-Fest. Come along with me as we go into the Dealers' Room and enjoy an "off-the-cuff", funny and informative chat with David Williamson and Rick Merrill. The synergistic energy of these two guys is just out of this world. We then have a much more serious conversation with Joanie Spina who talks about directing and choreographing magic acts plus some of her time with David Copperfield. We also have a brief chat with one of her students, David Malachor. She has done so much for helping and improving many of the top acts today. Back in the Dealers' Room I have a chat with Greg Bordner talking about Abbott’s Get Together, the genesis of Abbotts plus Harry Blackstone and more.

We then walk over to the booth where Jim Steinmeyer is signing his new book, The Last Greatest Magician in the World, a biography about Howard Thurston. As with all of Jim's books, it is a most fascinating read. We also chat with Jim about some of his consulting with Broadway theatrical productions.

035: Magi-Fest 2011 - Day One from the file of "Lost Episodes"

Here is another in the series of "Lost Podcasts" that have never yet been published. This short podcast was recorded on the first day, January 27th, of the 2011 Magi-Fest in Columbus, Ohio and includes a chat with Mindy Burden and Chairman Jep Hostetler. This marks Jep's last year as the Chairman of this superb convention that is celebrating its 80th year. All the stops were pulled out to give the registrants a great convention and bring in some of the world's best and most talented magicians for Jep's last year making this his "Dream Team". This year was also a tribute to Howard Thurston with many activities planned around this Master Magician of the Golden Era.

034: An Interview with Tom Craven - Magic's "Mr. Nice Guy"

Tom Craven traveled through Houston on his Fall 2011 lecture tour and had a little time to sit down to chat with me about his life in magic and his new book "My (Almost) 50 Years in Magic". He has had a rather full life with so many credits to his name and he has made so many friends in the magic world. He is indeed "one of the good guys" who makes fast friends wherever he goes. And he is always quick to share a trick or two.

Tom was a columnist for The Linking Ring (“Havenly Close-Up”) for over 21 years. He has a lifetime of experience that he tries to squeeze into the lecture. If you haven't heard his lecture or even if you have, I think you will enjoy hearing some of Tom's back story. In this podcast, Tom talks about his life and journey in magic and shares some interesting stories along the way.
