If you are not familiar with Gloria Dea, then this will open your eyes. She is a trailblazer in the magic community most noted for her being the first magician (not first female magician but the FIRST magician) to perform in Las Vegas. In 1941 she performed at the “new” El Rancho Casino as just another gig in her storied career. It wasn’t any big deal at the time and her story was almost lost to history were it not for the efforts and research by Lance Rich. Lance gave an in-depth presentation about Gloria Dea’s magic career at the 2021 Magic Collectors’ Expo then later as a cover article in the December issue of M.U.M. magazine.
Today, August 25, 2022, we celebrate the 100th birthday of Gloria Dea. If you would like to send her a greeting, then please leave your birthday wishes in the comments below.
In this episode we are joined by AnnaRose Einarsen who facilitated this meeting and also asks some cogent questions to help with our interview. In addition to her magic career, Gloria also speaks this week about her film career and working with some actors and directors from old Hollywood.
